Woodlands RP

Gratefulness showed on Saru's face at Koda's words. She knew that he would look out for Kieth, and sincerely hoped that Kieth would watch out for Koda. But she was sure that he would, he was always a fair wolf. Giving other's chances when most turned them down, and Koda was the same. She glanced at Kieth when Koda spoke of him and Nina. Her face brightened as she saw the fae spark up a conversation with him, hopefully they would get on well together.

She twitched her ears when Nina spok to them. So the other fae we met is still out there. Will she come back and join us?Thoughts ran through her mind at top speed, so when Koda asked her a question, she felt as if she had been dunked in a bucket of cold water. Shaking the thoughts away and clearing her mind, she looked back at Koda as she replied. "Definitely. From the moment you told me about it back in the den, I have dreamed about it. Waiting for the chance for when we would get there. Now that we're on our way there, I can't wait."

He saw distaste, anger, but also sadness in Nina's eyes as she looked at Koda and Saru. Was there something going on between the three of them that he didn't know? Bewildered, he shook his head and stared at Koda. He was just sharing a friendly chat with Saru, why would Nina feel such emotions at that? His gaze went back to Nina as she sighed. For some reason he wanted to comfort her, but didn't know how. When she spoke, he realised that his shoulder was not hurting so much now. That herb must've helped. "Thankyou." he said softly. It was true. He was very gateful at Nina for helping him when she didn't need to.

"You may go if you wish, you don't have to watch over me like a hawk." He couldn't help but smile at that. His eyes were bright and cheerful, but were also filled with pain and tiredness. He knew that Nina meant well, and he agreed with her. Sleep was the best option for him now. Resting his head on his large paws, he drifted off into a disturbed sleep.

The walk back to the pack was pleasant in the moon's light. Rogue felt almost normal again-- wandering in the night. Except, she wasn't wandering. She had a set destination: the pack. The swim in the pond earlier made her fur soft and fluffy, but the scent of the other wolf was on her nose. Going for another dive wasn't an option; it was in the opposite direction of the pack.

Rogue did come across a stream though, and was able to wash most of the scent off. Beads of water rested on her muzzle, and the moon glinted off the diamond like droplets. Sneezing softly, she shook the water off and continued her walk.

Through the bushes in front of her, Rogue watched the pack for a moment. Were those really supposed to be her friends? Friend. What a foreign word. At least they were nice enough wolves. Some of them more than others. Rogue emerged from the bushes and strode past Keith and Nina in her walk to the other side of the clearing. As she past Koda and Saru, Rogue gave a brief nod to the Alpha.

Padding over to a boulder on the edge of the grove, she laid down with her back against the cool rock; then curled up with her thick white and black specked tail across her nose. Large golden eyes scanned the entire pack and surrounding area, not resting.

Kovara felt it was time to try to join the pack once again that was after some sleep. She curled up under a large boulder with branches falling over the empty space. Kovara tugged the branches over herself. The moonlight trickled her soft creamy pelt. She slipped into a deep peaceful sleep. Her dreams had the presence of warmth and family, the pack. The sun was glimmering on a large body of water and the air fresh. Her claws sunk into the sodden moist ground of the shore. It was a happy well pack. After a good 2 hours she woke to the break of dawn. The warm pink air glittered the grass beyond the door of branches. She pulled out of the cozy space and groomed her pelt. Then she pushed forward starting of towards the pack.

As the pack slowly drifted to sleep, Rogue still kept a vigilant watch. Every hour she would stand up and walk around the grove three times to keep herself sharp, before returning to her post. Trust was still lacking for her, and she wouldn't close her eyes why she was still at risk. Any one of these wolves could be going extra lengths to gain her trust, then slit her throat.

But that wasn't the only reason she kept watch. If a strange and aggressive wolf came around, someone needed to be awake and sharp to defend the pack. Sure they would wake up, but for a few minutes after waking up, everyone's mind is foggy and slow. In that brief moment, they were so very vulnerable.

The night was long, her routine becoming more and more annoying as she wished for a short nap. But when the distant horizon began to glow, Rogue finally stood up and lapped water out of the stream. Wanting to fully wake her mind, she dunked her entire head into the stream. She came up eyes wide. Shaking her head to remove the water, Rogue began a walk around the grove once again.

Kovara's soft fur flowed in the cool morning breeze. It was back to its light fluffy condition. Her tongue slightly lolled from her maw. She took a wiff of the air, and she stopped dead in her tracks. It was them, the pack from a couple of days ago. The wind was blowing uphill so she was good. Kovara lowered her tail and ears. She softly pressed her chest to the ground. Her muzzle rested on her forepaws and her eyes slightly closed. A bit later the dawn light rose and so did she. Carefully placing a swollen paw forward making not even the slightest sound. She licked her chest smoothing her ruffled fur. Then simply poking her nose through the bushes. Giving out a soft whimper waiting to see if she was welcome.

Saru looked into Koda's golden eyes with her own green ones. She felt as if she could have done so for eternity, but at some point one of them would have to look away. After a few moments Koda turned away and looked at each of the other pack members. Her eyes moved to Kieth, who was sound asleep. He looked so peaceful like that, no pain or worry etched onto his face.

She looked back at Koda, who was staring at Kieth just as she was. What was he thinking of him? She looked up at the sky and was amazed at how late it was, no wonder she felt so tired. Just then, Ebony returned. She walked past the four wolves and lay down next to a large boulder. That must be very umcomfortable.

At last exhaustion took over her mind and body, her eyes closed and she lay her head on top of her dainty paws. She let out a soft sigh, almost inaudible, and fell into a dreamless sleep. Now that she was surrounded by pack mates, she no longer had to worry about being attacked in the night. Especially with Koda right next to her, right now, everything was perfect.

Kovara finally heard the voice of what must of been the leader. She slanked forward keeping her posture low making herself no threat. As soon as her pelt was free of the bushes she flickered her gaze around at each wolf. She spotted the fae that had helped her recently last night. Hopefully she didn't put the wolf out of her way. Taking small strides toward the large wolf until she stood a good 2 feet from him. She took in his name and nodded letting herself adjust to the company of wolves. Kovara then spoke her words soft and dainty "I'm Kovara, a loner looking for a pack." She then looked into the leaders stare. Looking for the next words that will be spoken. Her tail tucked in between her legs and ears pinned to her head.

She watched as another wolf came to stand before her. Kovara felt small compared to the two. She blinked and slightly shivered. But she wasn't going to shy away from the pack again. Her eyes flattened completely and her legs quivered. Kovara looked at her paws then at the fae that had joined the leader. She seemed welcoming yet again it seemed she craved for more. Then tossing her gaze at the now red orange sky with hints of blue breaking through. She wanted to prove her strengths to this fae and the pack. Her orbs flickered back onto the male in front of her.

Watching the way Nina silently threatened the poor timid female, Rogue couldn't help but to feel the need to step in. And she thought she was aggressive herself. This wolf seemed to hate every female that even cast a glance at Koda. Poor guy.

With a heavy sigh, she made her way to the trio. Instead of facing off the female beside Koda and Nina, Rogue actually stood to the side of the female. Her eyes held a confidence, and assurance that had never been held for another wolf before. It was obvious to her that this wolf was too timid to be a loner, and needed this pack. This fae didn't need Nina threatening her off.

There was a time not so long ago that Rogue would have been like Nina, growling and snarling threats at this intruder. But last night when she saved the poor fae, and the time before when she was frightened off, had taught Rogue that not all wolves should be greeted with snarls and threats. Perhaps the phrase: a change of heart, could be used at the moment.

When the fae that had recently saved her stood giving out a sigh. Her heart sunk it was now going to be three against one. As she padded closer she began crouching into a smaller ball. But instead the fae passed the spot next to the two wolves. She joined sides with her and stood with a look of confidence. My heart lightening up I glanced over at the fae and nodded. She had a spark of confidence in her now, and it was joined by the flashback of her dream. The sparkling water the beauiiful sky, and the happy pack. She smiled softly wagging her tail. But then she snapped into realization and stopped her tail. Then slowly letting her smile fade.

A whimper broke Saru out of her sleep. She looked around her and saw that Koda, Nina and Ebony had all vanished. Getting to her feet, she was about to follow their scents but stopped to look back at Kieth. What would he do if they were all gone? The thought nagged her at the back of her mind but she shook it away. It was early in the morning and he wouldn't wake up for a bit. She continued to follow the scent trail and what met her eyes wasn't what she expected.

On one side was Koda and Nina, while on the other was Ebony and the other fae. What was going on? She decided that now may not be the time to interfere, but she felt as if she should watch. If any wolf looked in her direction, they could see her clearly, so she stepped out of the trees.

Kieth stirred and opened his eyes. Lifting his head up, he saw that no one was here. Panic coarsed through him. Did they leave him? No, they couldn't have. Saru would have stayed by his side, or would she have gone with them? He shook his head to clear his mind of all the questions and thoughts. Scenting the air, he noted that they were all quite close to where he was. But another scent reached his sensitive nose, it was of the other fae that ran off during their last encounter. She was probably here to join them. He got to his feet-with some difficulty-and walked over to to where the scents were. But something stopped him, maybe he should stay here, out of the way. Laying down in a sphinx-like position, he waited for the group to come back.

Kovara saw the slight movement from the trees Behind the two wolves in front of her. It was the light creamy fae that she saw standing next to the leader. But her legs starting to cramp from her weight. But she must keep her stance until she was welcomed into the pack. Then she felt her wounds starting to sting. She softly whimpered in pain. Glancing behind herself running didn't seem like an option now. But she knew that she wasn't going to pass up this chance once again. Her shoulders hurt and her stomache twisted she was still a bit nervous. Hers eyes ventured into the females eyes then into the leaders. Both held the same feeling but was it good? She shook the thought and glanced back at the creamy fae.

Shortly after he spoke members of his pack started arriving, despite the early hour and their state of wakefulness. Nina came to stand by his side, Ebony surprisingly seemed to be supporting the stranger, Saru hung back in the treeline and he even heard the exhausted Kieth stir, but stay back. It seemed that his pack was already starting to act together. He was curious about Nina's excessive defensiveness and even more so about Ebony's silent support of the other fae. She had been more than aggressive on their earlier encounter. Had something happened between then and now to change the way that she felt? Very curious. She didn't appear to be acting aggressive towards her own pack, merely supporting the other.

After noting the location and stances of all with flicks of his ears and brief glances around, Koda returned his attention to the whimpering female before him. She seemed nervous, but also in pain. There was a cut on her muzzle and her paws seemed to be swollen and quite painful. If memory served him right, she had been perfectly whole and healthy when she'd departed their company the last time. Apparently, much had happened to her in that fairly brief time. She seemed intent to stay this time, despite her fears, so he gave her a small smile and then gave Nina a look that asked her to relax her outward aggression a bit. There was no need to frighten the girl any more than she already was.

Looking back to her, he said, "These are my pack mates, Kovara." He didn't bother with their names, figuring if she was here to join, as she said, that they would get around to proper introductions later. "Why have you returned to us after leaving before? Are you sure that pack life is what you crave?" His tone was friendly, yet demanded that she be clear of her intent on this early spring morning. The last thing that they needed was a wolf unsure of what she wanted. With this thought, he spared a brief questioning look at Rogue.

As soon as she saw him approve it was time she stopped her whimpering. Then she softly cleared her throat, after what seemed months since she had talked. As he spoke to her she looked at him with full attention. When the question left his maw she froze in thought. Then gathering her thoughts she replied " I-I guess it was t-to much for me at that time, I was just still very nervous and new to it." Then looking back into his eyes. She looked around at each wolf nervously. Then returning her gaze to the leader's. Her paws burned in pain, but it wasn't at its worst. She twitched feeling a spasm om her left rear thigh. But right now she was working on getting accepted into this pack.

Kovara watched as the golden muzzle neared her when it touched hers. Looking back over to the female. Her eyes had softened and she seemed calmer. Then she nosed the leaders shoulder walking away. Kitara's eyes followed the fae until she reached the other side of the trees. Then looking at her paws needing a good clean up they started bleeding again. She looked at the male leader still not knowing his name she looked into his eyes with confiedence. She held her spirit high and hoped for the best. Her throat hoarse and dry she needed water. Then her stomache faintly growled and she just sunk her claws into the cold earth fighting off the hunger.

Saru watched as the situation unfolded before her. Her eyes caught Kovara's for a fraction of a second, but she saw the pain. She kept silent during the entire time. As Nina left Koda's side she turned her head briefly to see the tip of her tail disappear. She walked up to Koda, standing next to him. Leaning in close to his side, she whispered into his ear, "do you think we should let Kovara join us?" Saru sincerely hoped that she would join since she was in need of rest and protection, and that was two things a loner could never have. Her gaze never left Kovara's, she was looking for any hesitation that the fae might have. If Kovara couldn't answer with confidence, maybe joining a pack was something she shouldn't do. You had to be sure the you wanted to, otherwise the others migt not be so trustful.

Kieth only had to wait a few minutes before he saw Nina. His face split into a smile and he gave a few wags with his tail. He got to his feet with some difficulty to greet her. His shoulder was stinging and he had a hard time trying to keep his face straight. He looked at her, genuinely happy to see her, but then his face lost it's smile, "Nina. Where is Koda, Saru and Ebony?"

Ooc-Sorry that Kieth's is so short! Hopefully the next one will be a bit longer.

The very sudden change in Nina's behavior surprised Rogue. One moment she was ready to tear the wolf to pieces, the next she was giving Kovara a soft nuzzle of encouragement. It was a good change though, that could definitely be said.

Giving Kovara a sidelong glance, Rogue looked at Koda and Saru. The question Saru had asked of Koda was too soft for her to hear, but she had a pretty good idea of what it was. Looking at this starving, wounded, and exhausted wolf, she wondered herself what she saw in the wolf. But something told her the fae needed support.

Rogue looked back at Koda, and raised an eyebrow in question. Would he let her join?

Kovara flickered her eyes at the expressions each wolf held. Her eyes glimmered softly hoping it was good that the wolf that had just padded up. Then it exchanged words with the leader, but it was to soft for her to hear. She looked over at the fae beside her hoping for some clues or hints about the words. Her head drifted through the possible words she had whispered to the leader. Kovara relaxed her shoulders and stretched her neck and back legs. Then directing her attention to the female now standing in front of her. She gave her a short stare looking to see anger or curiousity. But it was blank so she tossed her stare over to the leader waiting for his next words. Her paws numb and her stomache growling she had patience.

Kovara looked into his gaze it was now softening. She focused her ears on the leaders words. Giving small nods then her ears perked this was it she was welcome to the pack. Her eyes lit and her hope lifted. They were willing to care for her until she was recovered enough to travel. She looked at the leader and spoke " Thank you very much I'm very grateful!" Her paws and her wounds still stung and the growling hunger still existed. Then the leader gave two of the wolves orders to find food. She hoped they would find something decent sized. When the leader spoke and told her to follow she nodded and padded after him. She wondered where he was leading her.

The thoughts swelled in her mind she was now a part of the pack. Then her mind shot to one thing what is her spot in this what rank would she turn out to be. But finally having a pack to protect hunt and care for. She kept her eyes on the male ahead of her leading her to
somewhere she didn't know yet.
