Pleased with the negotiations, Rogue gave a brief nod before disappearing into the forest. Hunt: something that she was most excellent at. A sudden thought occurred to her, and she stopped mid-step. He told Saru to go hunting as well. He didn't expect them to work together hunting, did he? She wouldn't be able to work very well using teamwork. It was a foreign thing to her.

Rogue's paw still hung in the air as she looked back at Saru. Surely she was thinking the same thing. Or did she want to give it a go, and just jump into the pack ways? Just jumping in wasn't something Rogue was comfortable with; who knows what she would land on.

Eyes gleaming with the anxiousness to get hunting, Rogue kept herself still as she looked back at Saru. If the fae wanted to give it a go, she supposed it was worth a difficult try.


OOC- Tempest I might bring in another character later...if I posted his form in the joining thread, would it be allowed?

(I won't be on until the end of the month so you can carry on without me, Just not too far But now and then I might be able to get on and post. And El, the wolf would have to be accepted first )

Saru nodded at Koda's words and took off after Ebony. Lifting her muzzle in the air, she tried to catch scent of prey. But just then, Ebony froze and looked back at her. She she realised that the other fae might not want to hunt as a team. Giving a small nod, she spoke, "you may hunt on your own if you wish." Saru paused, waiting for Ebony to choose how they hunted. Whether it was going seperate ways or together. She didn't mind either way, but hunting together would increase their chances of catching bigger game. Since they now had six members in the pack, they would have to catch more than the usual amount of prey. A scent in the air caught Saru's attention. It was deer. Her eyes flicked to Ebony, would she come wih her, or not?

There was no second thought. She would provide for the pack much better if she hunted alone. Giving Saru a quick and thankful nod, Rogue dashed into the forest and vanished from sight. As her white paws stalked in a slow and rhythmic beat, bright and large golden eyes darted from hither to thither.

The large ears of hers twisted around constantly to catch all the noised around her. Because of the sleep deprived of her from the night of watching, Rogue wasn't as sharp as usual. There would be no chance of catching any large prey. She would have to stick with rabbits, pheasant if she was lucky enough. Fowl wasn't the most pleasant to eat though. Getting through all the feathers were annoying. Rabbit would be delicious. Simple and easy to catch.

The large and clever eyes of a raccoon staying up earlier than usual warily watch Rogue. In return, she gave it a sharp stare back. Just enough to let it know that to try and pick her for a fight would be its last mistake. Giving shake of its head, the scraggly scavenger slank off.

The morning light filtered through the thick rooftop of leaves above Rogue, casting beautiful shades of green dancing in the forest. A breeze ruffled their branches, brushing them against each other with a familiar and relaxing noise. In a place like this, who wouldn't want to hunt?

Her eyes calmly made their way towards Keith’s her ears twitching slightly, ”He is with another. . .no doubt gathering together a hunting team.” Her steely gaze remained on him before trailing down to his leg. ”How is your leg?” Her eyes would seem cold, but in truth she was generally concerned for the male. It was what she was made of, she didn’t even know why se was being so harsh towards the other female. . .Saru. She should probably calm herself, it would be best for everyone.

(Sorry, my friends! Life got away, but I'm back... Since Kovara has chosen to leave due to inactivity, I'll just PP her disappearing at some point in the next few posts...)



Ebony and Saru did as he said and headed off, albeit not together. Perhaps that would come with time. They were a young pack, just this side of rogue-hood and he reminded himself that it would take time for them the mesh as a group. Right now, they had time and so he was content. He led the female to the water, indicating that she should tend herself, before he turned and headed back towards Nina and Kieth.


As he neared the pair he was pleased to see them talking, but Kieth's continued pain was also evident. Between him and their newest fae travel would be impossible today. He looked around him at the terrain and couldn't complain. There was soft grass to lie on, water nearby, good lookout points and the weather was cool, but temperate. Spending another day here would be no hardship. It wasn't Diamond Lake, but it was a good spot for his small pack. Now, he waited to see if Ebony and Saru would have luck hunting. If not, then they could send out more later. They had more mouths to feed and two of them were nearly helpless at the moment, but he wasn't truly worried. For the first time in a very long time, he felt content.

He gave Nina a curious look as he approached them. She'd been acting so differently than he remembered her and he was concerned. She seemed harder somehow, but her final show of kindness for Kovara gave him hope that his sweet friend was still there. Her kindness and attentiveness towards Kieth was further proof of that. He greeted both with a smile as he took a seat by the pair. "Kieth, how are you faring today? Better, I hope. I think that we will stay here for another day as we now have two injured members to tend to." His words made it clear that the scared and injured female was now counted among them.

Rontu meandered throughout the vast expanse of forest, her keen nose absorbing all the different scents that were streaming through frosty air. Today, the air just smelled fresh, the morning chill brought a certain crispness to the forest that she couldn't help but find invigorating. Her thick black tail swished slowly back and forth as she walked, brushing her legs with its feathery hairs. A sudden rush of a new scent grabbed her attention, dragging her gaze away from the other parts of the forest. Her golden-amber eyes flitted across the scene before her, observing with great focus.

The spectacle that had captured her attention was a small herd of deer roaming in the distance, a few yards from the winding river that she frequented. They were quite a ways away, but from what Rontu could tell there were several large females, as well as one or two young fawns grazing. Her ears pricked, on high alert for any other sounds and she crouched closer to the ground before beginning to prowl forward, taking quick, carefully placed steps. As she tread closer and closer to the group of unassuming deer, they began to traipse slowly away; not due to her presence, but more likely in search of some fresher greenery to graze on. Rontu furrowed her eyebrows in irritation. She had not planned on straying far from where she had been staying, but if she wanted to catch any breakfast, she would have to follow the deer, why couldn't prey ever just make it easy?

The herd ambled farther and farther away from the vicinity that Rontu had claimed as her temporary home-base, leading her to an entirely new swath of forest. This would be so much easier if I were hunting in a pack… she figured. The black wolf had been so engrossed with trailing her prey, that she had hardly noticed the flare of a new scent, the scent of other wolves. She looked up abruptly. If a group of wolves was living here, they would not appreciate her hunting on their land. She peered around, looking to see if any were nearby, the secret hope that there would be lurking in the back of her mind.

Ava made her way through the trees following the scent of a sickly deer, her eyes were half closed as she trotted through the forest, when the smell of wolves caught her attention. She wasn't aware others were around in this land. She'd been hoping she was the only wolf around. It seemed they were close since the scent was fresh. There were several of them, since different scents were mingling in the air. She rolled her eyes if any wolves interrupted her hunt before it was finished she would kill them...or at least attack.
With her mind made up she continued, weaving through the trees until she could see her quarry. It was a old doe, and she was limping heavily her left hind leg had a large gash in it that was festering. Her wound was infected, this hunt would be an easy one. Or so she hoped. She crouched onto her belly and began to creep forward. Her element of surprise was ruined when she stepped carelessly on a twig. She cursed as the doe turned her head in surprise then in fear she began to hobble away. Moving quickly through the trees regardless of her wounded leg. Ava dashed after her grabbing the leg and yanking on it hoping to slow the doe down. Ava was kicked off and thrown into the dirt. But that didn't stop her she jumped up and caught the leg again after a few strides. This time the doe was too tried too move very much. And tried to turn to hold her ground.
Ava let go of the leg circling around and leaping for the throat for the kill. The poor creature didn't see it coming and Ava soon had her in a death grip ending her life.
Ava didn't waste any time ripping the carcass open and shoving as much meat as she could sown her throat. After she finished she grabbed some more meat to take back with her to some nearby shelter, beneath an old tree who had a small hallow at the base. Ava stashed the meat there, before going off to find water to wash up.

(OK, everyone... I'm doing a whole lot of PPing here, as we have many wolves that seem to have disappeared. I shall do my best to make it general so that it will be easy for those wolves to work themselves back in to the plot, if they so choose!)


Koda was distraught. Everything had been going so well. He'd found a beautiful fae that he'd hoped to call 'mate' and quickly added members to his little pack. When they had stopped near the river, admitting Kovara, who had run off previously everything seemed to have changed. Now half of his pack was missing and the other half seemed so distant. Where had he gone wrong? He was confused by the turn of events.

The first to go had been their newest. At least with Kovara, he could contribute it to her early fear of bodily harm. Ebony had not been overly welcoming to say the least. Then his golden Saru began spending more time with her old friend Kieth. He could not find fault with that, but it didn't take long before the pair of them seemed to drift off too. Had she forgotten him so easily with the return of her friend? He could see that more than friendship lay in Keith's eyes when he gazed upon Saru. Perhaps she had finally returned the sentiment and they had left together to spare everyone the heartache. He could only guess since she had not spoken to him about it. His heart still cried out for her and begged for her to return.

But, life went on and now their pack was down to three. Himself, Nina and Ebony. Both of those females had kept their distance as well, but they hovered on the outskirts of their little makeshift home. Ebony had always been on the outside, so there really was no change there, but Nina was a different story. They had known each other from his previous life. Before the fire. She had always been sweet and loving, compassionate. But, it seemed that ever since they had reunited she had become harder, almost bitter. He missed the old Nina and wished that she would come back to him. He needed someone to lean on as he started this venture once more.

His need for family overcame him and he lifted his creamy muzzle to the heavens and called out to his lost family, perhaps to his new family too...

A call sounded from a wolf nearby and Ava jumped almost landing in the small stream she'd found. If anything she hated being wet. Being wet meant being drenched and cold. Oh how she hated the cold. The call ended, abruptly and Ava couldn't help part of her being pulled towards it. The part of her that couldn't stand being alone, she wasn't exactly social but she wasn't quiet either. She was more in-between she spoke when spoken to or when something was on her mind. She surveyed the trees around her carefully. She didn't find a leaf out of place, nothing rustled. The wolf wasn't as close as she thought. She sat and listened for a few moments half expecting to hear a wolf coming towards her. But she heard nothing.
Sniffing the air she drank in the scents of the forest, she caught the scents of wolves. It was fresh. She started off in the direction of both the noise and the scent. She didn't want to be alone any longer.
She spotted the wolves a few feet ahead but stopped. She wouldn't make herself known until she was ready. So while she kept a low profile inside the safety and cover the trees provided she observed the wolves. There were two of them, and one bulky light brown male and an smaller brown female. Ava could tell instantly that the male was in charge by the way the female licked his cheek. To Ava it was a form of submission.
So there was a pack around here and the male lead it. Ava looked around cautiously stepping forward and raising her head to do a quick swivel of her surroundings. She listened and smelled intently to everything around her wondering if another wolf would appear. When she ducked her head back into cover, she accidentally shifted her weight on a twig which made a loud crack. She froze, if she ran they would pursue but if she lay here maybe they would just suspect that a nearby animal was moving around...not her, not a wolf.
She held her breath waiting.

Rontu slowly arose from the place among the trees where she had been poised. Her intense focus on the small herd of deer that grazed in the distance had been snapped like a twig by the appearance of a new scent. From what her senses could gather, it was likely to be a small pack of wolves. Rontu silently scolded herself for not have noticing it sooner, after scenting the air more carefully she could tell with ease that there were indeed others in the vicinity.

Rontu was content with life as a loner, but nothing more. She enjoyed it; the freedom was nice, the sovereignty and lack of restrictions was pleasant, but when she forced herself to truly think about it, she could tell something was missing. The novelty of living on her own was wearing off more quickly than she wanted to acknowledge. It felt like there was a space inside her that ought to be filled, but wasn’t. She stood with her paws planted firmly against the ground, tempted to turn and run away, but also drawn by the idea of investigating this strange group of wolves. The more she thought about searching for the scent, the more it intrigued her, dragging her forward like a gravitational pull. Finally, the latter triumphed. Curiosity prevailed, and before she knew it her nose was to the ground and her inky paws were leading her towards the source of the scent.

The female crept cautiously through across the woods, her feet making only minute sounds against the forest floor. Her ears were pricked, and her amber eyes scanned the area alert and determined. Suddenly, from the corner of her gaze she saw a flash of movement. Rontu whirled around and walked closer to get a better look. Sure enough, several wolves stood gathered in a clearing. She continued to stride closer, her posture confident but not aggressive. “Hello over there!” she called, her voice amiable, but warily questioning. Rontu recognized a tingle of excitement in her paws, forced her tail to stop swishing through the air. She took a few steps forward, but otherwise waited for them to approach her. She did not want to appear overly enthused.

Shy was lost, and hungry, her last meal had been so long ago she couldn't remember, exhaustion dragged her down. Slower and slower she trod, losing all sense of direction. Left, right, left, right she thought, willing her paws to obey. The warrior was not one to believe in what she couldn't see but something called her forward. Some deep rooted feeling pulled her on towards something. Little did the she wolf know that it was fate calling to her, for her strong will would be one thing that a blossoming pack would need to feel like a pack. Some wolf to mark borders diligently, catch loners on the edge of the territory instead of in its heart.

She crossed over what she thought was a weak scent marker she couldn't be sure it was overlayed with so much forest scent it almost didn't exist. If I'm on a packs land they must be in bad shape, or very few, she thought. On she in the precise direction of the small pack's leader, though she did not know it. After many more moments, she stopped abruptly and raised her head and howled I am here. why she did not know, something deep within called upon her to howl the words. Very shortly thereafter the she wolf collapsed to her side, she would not die no, she knew this. She only needed rest food and water and she would be back to her old self soon enough.

Everything had fallen apart. The pack had been going on so well. New wolves had come and the pack was well on their way to their new home. But then everything changed. Kovara had been the first to leave, only days after she had joined them. Then Ebony and Nina had become very distant. Saru had felt that everything had gone wrong. She spent more and more time with Kieth, and less and less time with the others. And after a few days, Saru and Kieth had distanced themselves from the pack. They had both wandered off into the woods, but didn't stray far from the stream. She took note that Kieths shoulder was healing very well, but he still couldn't travel very far or fast. But she didn't care. It was well worth spending time with her friend. They told each other what had happened in the past year they had been seperated. But it didn't feel right. It was as if something was missing, something that couldn't be replaced.


Then she heard a howl. But not just any howl. It was Koda's.


She turned to Kieth, "Kieth. Something hasn't felt right in the past few days. But now I know what it is. Will you come with me to join Koda's pack once again?"

His light grey eyes looked upon Saru with something more than friendship. "Wherever you go, I will follow." He said softly to her. Giving Kieth a small smile, she got to her feet and trotted in the direction of where Koda was.


Coming upon a clearing, she saw Koda's silver and cream fur. And standing next to him, was Nina. She gave multilple shakes of her fluffy golden tail and gave a small bark, indicating to Koda that she had answered his call. Both she and Kieth walked up to Koda, dipping their heads.


"Oh, Koda!" Saru exclaimed. "How I have missed you these past few days." But before she could hear his reply, a new scent penetrated her keen nose and she turned around. She saw a black she-wolf trotting up to them. Her posture towards them was friendly enough, but Saru had known quite a few wolves in her past. Not all were as friendly as they seemed. Giving a swift glance at Koda, she decided that he should handle this. And then she heard a resounding crack echo throughout the clearing. Snapping her head in its direction, she tried to pinpoint the direction it came from. Normally, Saru would dismiss the noise to a small animal. But now, with a strange wolf among them, she was on high alert.

Ava's hiding spot was safe...well safe enough. A cream colored she-wolf padded up to the alpha male and other female with a sliver male in tow. The newcomers spoke to the light brown alpha in a such familiar that Ava decided they were pack-mates. They didn't seem to be anything less than good friends. The cream female turned her head looking directly at Ava's hiding spot. Ava froze, she didn't move a muscle. She was afraid she just didn't want to be found out until she felt like it. She wanted to know more about these wolves before approaching them. She wanted to make sure if this pack could be the one she was looking for. A pack who was...more accepting of her rebellious personality. She had wasted too much of her time and energy on packs that were less than welcoming and she was sick of it. New tactics were in order. And she wanted to make sure she executed her plans.
A new dark female had saved Ava from being discovered by the cream wolfess's sharp hearing. Ava kept low peeking through the brush, not making a sound and definitely not risking moving again not with the cream wolfess around. By the way the cream wolfess responded to the new female, Ava concluded that the new dark female was a rogue. Ava watched the wolves intently wondering how they would react to a lone wolf in their midst's.

Rontu continued to stride forward, a small burst of excitement expanding in her chest. The pack that she was approaching seemed to be affable, or at least not malicious. She did not dare allow herself to become too hopeful, although she couldn’t help but consider the possibilities. This seemed like a perfect opportunity to join pack life again. From what she could see, the large male wolf standing in the center of the group was the alpha. His stance was tall and confident, and his golden eyes were alert. Rontu lowered her posture slightly out of respect as she stood before him.

Rontu smiled lightly in greeting, flicking her ears slightly. “Hello Koda,” she replied, her amber eyes watching him closely, trying to gauge his reaction. “I’m Rontu, I’d been exploring these parts for several days when I caught scent of your pack,” she explained, hesitant to add any further details until she knew who she was dealing with. While she wasn’t one to beat around the bush, Rontu had yet to decide if these were wolves she could trust.

Hmm... so the alpha was Koda. The name didn't ring a bell, but at least Ava had something to call him now. The brown female besides him was Nina, and the cream female was Saru; the male behind her Keith. Interesting...all so very interesting. The black female rogue who had approached the pack had introduced herself as Rontu. Ava was satisfied with the knowledge of all the wolves names at the moment. A desperate howl split the air and Koda instructed Nina to go check it out. Ava smiled one less wolf at least. But Ava wished Koda had sent Saru out instead then Ava wouldn't have to worry about her sharp hearing anymore. Then something pricked Ava's fur. Koda had looked at Saru in such a tender way. Where they mates? He also looked a bit sad, thought too. Ava could muster only one word for it: complicated.
She almost snorted in laughter but she stifled it to a almost inaudible giggle. She needed to keep quiet. Part of her just wanted her to get up and talk to them getting the introductions over with. But she wanted to see how Koda would handle the presence of Rontu.
Ava reflected in the way Koda gave Nina orders and almost gagged in spite of herself. Above all Ava hated taking orders. She just couldn't understand this pack law and ranking stuff. Why couldn't everyone just order themselves around? Why did you have to bow down to one wolf? Or more?
She already had the answer though someone has to lead and create order so things don't fall into chaos and confusion and fall apart. Still maybe her way of thinking made her more into the trouble maker and rebel that she was. She knew one thing was for sure though whether she joined this pack or not she would make sure she didn't take orders from anyone but herself. A little stupid and naive but she didn't care.
Ava stayed were she was shifting a little to lay down. She made sure she didn't step on another stick.
